Kensington Glass Arts specializes in high-end interior glass work, typically for law firms and organizations with very upscale office interiors. The company is unique in that we manufacture and install architectural glass products. KGa single source capacity provides for a unique capability to control the destiny of our projects from beginning to end. •
GENERAL SUMMARY
The primary responsibility is to take an active role to ensure all glass is received, produced, tempered, loaded, and delivered as a superior quality product. Every effort will be made to ensure product is free of all defects such as bows, haze, scratches, and chips. Also, special attention is to be given to loading and material handling of the product especially the strapping down and the tie off of the glass on the trucks. Report on truck conditions that could damage glass such as bad prop's, straps, etc. Report on equipment that could damage glass through the process.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for routinely checking receiving of product, cutting line, polishing, fabrication, seam, wash, tempering, loading, and jobsite deliver of product, ensure operators measure glass. Checks for defects such as scratches, haze, chips, and that dimensions are correct on labels and glass. Check glass that it has correct label and dimensions. Responsible for reviewing all glass for quality control standards. Expected to be a participant in any activity requiring additional help, helping, and organizing as required. Makes suggestions to improve quality program where possible. Works with fab sales team to answer and resolve complaint issues, will evaluate recut glass to resolve process issues and lower cost. Occasionally will talk with customer or jobsite to resolve quality concerns, make jobsite visits if warranted. Ensures that temper glass check and photos are taken and recorded on each recipe change. Expected to be instrumental and responsive to changes in the production schedule as required, may help in other areas as required. Quality Control Technician will be OSHA 10 certified.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Assist in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) for seaming, washing and quality control processes. Assist in design and implementation of production KPMs. Assist in identification of KPMs to create a completely accountable, 100% customer satisfaction goal.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of the job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee exerts up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Vision requirements include clarity of vision at 20 inches or less; clarity of vision at 20 feet or more; ability to identify and distinguish colors; the ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point; the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships; and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus. Work is performed in shop environment with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions and vibration. There is occasional exposure to humid and extreme non-weather related cold or hot conditions. There is frequent exposure to constant very loud sounds sufficient enough to cause distraction.
