Job Description

Position Type:
Full Time Salary (40 hours/week)
Compensation:
Commensurate with experience - Range ($70,000 - $80,000)

Winterport, ME Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in Quality, Continuous Improvement)

Exposure to Advanced Materials or Composites The Quality Control Specialist plays a key role in maintaining and improving the company's Quality Management System (QMS). This position bridges the gap between hands-on inspection activities and quality leadership by supporting data analysis, report development, process implementation, and system maintenance. This individual will work closely with the Quality Control Manager and production teams to ensure consistent product quality, identify areas for improvement, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Technical Skills:
    Data Analysis & Reporting:
    Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ability to develop reports, dashboards, and track KPIs
      Quality Systems:
      Working knowledge of QMS structure, document control, and quality documentation practices.
        Problem Solving:
        Working Knowledge of quality tools (5 Whys, PDCA, and implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence).
          Inspection & Verification:
          Understanding of inspection methods, test procedures, and quality verification processes.
            Measurement Tools:
            Experience using standard measuring equipment such as scales, rulers/tapes, calipers, and micrometers for dimensional verification and quality inspections.
              Technical Interpretation:
              Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.[GU1]
              Practical Experience:
                Reporting & Metrics:
                Developing and maintaining quality reports, trend analysis, and nonconformance tracking.
                  Process Implementation:
                  Supporting or leading implementation of quality procedures and process improvements.
                    Corrective Action :
                    Participating in root cause investigations and corrective/preventive action processes.
                      Documentation :
                      Maintaining SOPs, work instructions, and controlled quality records.
                      Soft Skills:
                        Communication:
                        Ability to clearly convey quality requirements and findings across teams.
                          Ownership:
                          Takes responsibility for assigned systems and processes, ensuring follow-through and results without constant direction.

                                  Responsibilities and Duties:
                                  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve quality processes and procedures.
                                  • Maintain and update controlled documents, including SOPs, work instructions, and quality records.
                                  • Maintain and support the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with internal standards and requirements.
                                  • Collect, organize, and analyze quality data from production and inspection activities.
                                  • Develop and maintain recurring reports (KPIs, trends, nonconformance tracking, etc.).
                                  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement using data-driven methods.
                                  • Support or perform inspection and testing activities as needed to verify product conformance.
                                  • Assist in root cause investigations related to nonconformances, customer issues, and internal findings.
                                  • Verify adherence to inspection processes and documentation requirements.
                                  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and operations teams to support quality objectives.
                                  • Assist in training personnel on quality procedures and best practices.
                                  • Support internal audits and corrective/preventive action processes.
                                  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and quality systems.
