Job Description

Axios Professional Recruitment is partnered with a leading medical device manufacturer in the Grand Rapids area to hire a Quality Inspector I for 3rd shift. This entry-level quality position is responsible for ensuring manufactured products meet strict quality and regulatory standards through inspection, testing, and documentation within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
Perform in-process, incoming, and final inspections of manufactured components and finished products. Verify product dimensions, finishes, and specifications using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment. Accurately document inspection results and enter quality data into electronic systems. Review production and quality documentation to ensure compliance with company standards. Utilize quality software and production tracking systems to support product release activities. Conduct visual inspections and identify non-conforming products. Assist with calibration activities, measurement system studies (MSA/GR&R), and continuous improvement initiatives. Support departmental metrics, 5S activities, and quality improvement projects. Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve product and process-related issues. Provide support and coverage for other quality department functions as needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Previous manufacturing, quality inspection, or quality control experience preferred. Experience in plastics injection molding or medical device manufacturing is a plus. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings preferred, including basic GD&T understanding. Familiarity with precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical comparators. Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Basic understanding of
ISO, FDA
regulations, and cGMP requirements preferred. Ability to follow standardized procedures and work under general supervision.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, sit, and walk throughout a manufacturing facility for extended periods. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to distinguish colors, depth perception, and visual details required for inspection activities. Must be able to work a 3rd shift schedule, including potential overtime and weekend hours as needed.
