Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to join our food manufacturing operations in the overnight hours. This role is responsible for ensuring product quality through laboratory testing, monitoring production processes, maintaining quality records, and supporting plant operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to food safety, quality assurance, and continuous improvement supporting our commitment to delivering exceptional products to our customers. In addition to laboratory responsibilities, this position will assume supervisory duties during the absence of plant management during the overnight hours and participate in plant-wide safety and operational initiatives. Key Responsibilities Quality Assurance & Laboratory Operations Perform quality assurance testing accurately and according to established procedures. Evaluate product samples and make recommendations to ensure products meet established specifications. Operate, calibrate, maintain, and clean laboratory equipment. Accurately record and maintain test results and quality documentation. Evaluate incoming raw materials and collect retained samples as required. Verify labeling accuracy and maintain product library samples. Identify and remove defects at designated stages of the production process. Understand and follow procedures for non-conforming products and hold/release processes. Production & Plant Support Assist with troubleshooting production issues and minimizing downtime. Support shipping and receiving activities as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Participate in plant safety initiatives and serve on the safety committee. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, product quality, and workplace safety. Assume supervisory responsibilities when plant management is unavailable, including scheduled weekend rotations. Perform additional duties as assigned by Quality Control leadership or plant management. Qualifications Required Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to follow written procedures and maintain accurate records. Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Strong analytical and mathematical abilities. Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with team members. Ability to supervise and motivate employees when required. Willingness to obtain and maintain forklift certification. Willingness to obtain a Special Boilers License within one year of employment. Preferred 2-3 years of experience in food manufacturing, quality assurance, food science, or a related field. Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment. Familiarity with laboratory testing equipment such as moisture analyzers, pH meters, Ro-Tap sieves, and mixers. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation standards, and food safety procedures.
