Job Description

Responsibilities:
Implement and manage the Site-Specific Quality Control Plan (SSQP). Conduct and document inspections of steel erection, bolting, and welding operations. Coordinate and manage the "three phases of control" (Preparatory, Initial, and Follow-up) for all definable features of work. Verify alignment, plumbness, and installation of steel members has been documented. Monitor and document bolt tightening, welding procedures, preheat/post-weld conditions, and weld quality. Ensure all field welding is performed by qualified welders in accordance with
AWS D1.1
(or project-specified standard). Maintain detailed quality control logs, reports, and inspection checklists. Verify material certifications (mill test reports, bolt certs, etc.) and ensure traceability. Ensure compliance with applicable AISC, AWS, OSHA, and project-specific standards. Participate in progress and coordination meetings and support the project team in resolving quality-related issues.
Qualifications and Experience:
Strong knowledge of AISC and
AWS D1.1
standards and steel erection best practices. Experience working with structural drawings, connection details, erection sequencing, and lift plans. Travel to projects throughout divisions. AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or obtain within 6 months. CQM-C (Construction Quality Management for Contractors) preferred certification. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and other construction software platforms.
Pay:
$22.00 - $27.00 per hour
