Laboratory tasks require the ability to measure, weigh, observe, and record in accordance with national recognized testing standards. Some field assignments could occur, which include, but are not limited to, conducting field tests or collecting samples on construction sites. Technicians record and submit accurate documentation of results and clearly communicate information to project managers and contractor/client representatives, as needed. Successful candidates will receive in-depth training and professional certifications. Primary Responsibilities Perform a variety of laboratory testing upon construction materials (e.g., aggregates, asphalt, concrete, grout, mortar, masonry, soils, etc.) Collect samples to be tested in the laboratory, and on occasion, perform testing in the field Operate, transport, and care for testing equipment, as assigned Create and maintain accurate and confidential records and prepare easily understandable reports for documentation Maintain records and perform laboratory testing upon proficiency samples for laboratory certification Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment Perform lab maintenance and general cleaning Required Skills Ability to understand and execute written and verbal directions Must have good interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work safely and ethically at all times Ability to use a computer and smart phone, with a general knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and the ability to learn PPI specific programs Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, project site specifications, and procedure manuals Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in all seasons Ability to move, lift, or carry objects or materials up to 50 lbs. without assistance Body movements, in addition to manual lifting, include: bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding Ability to physically maneuver construction sites and excavations Other Requirements Possession of a valid state of residence driver's license Clean driving record Travel to and from sites is expected May be required to work extended and irregular hours to meet deadlines including overtime and occasional weekends Required Experience High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver license with a clean driving record Preferred Experience (Not Required) At least 1-year relevant work experience in a laboratory setting or familiarity with laboratory procedures Materials testing experience and/or certifications (i.e., MoDOT, ACI, AASHTO, etc.) Benefits for Full-Time PPI Employees PPI offers a comprehensive benefit package, including a Company culture that supports a healthy work-life balance.
