Job Description

Schedule:
Monday thru Friday 7am - 3:30pm CST Position Overview The Quality Lab Technician plays a key role in ensuring Ashley products meet our high-quality standards and our customers' expectations. This position is responsible for obtaining product and material samples, performing a variety of laboratory tests according to established standard operating procedures (SOPs), accurately documenting results, and communicating findings to the appropriate stakeholders. When test results indicate a potential quality issue or the need for immediate action, the Quality Lab Technician is expected to promptly notify management so corrective measures can be taken. This role also supports training and cross-training of other lab technicians to maintain a knowledgeable and flexible team. Primary Job Responsibilities Testing & Documentation Obtain samples of raw materials, in‑process goods, and finished products as required by test plans or production schedules. Perform physical, mechanical, and/or chemical tests in accordance with SOPs and quality standards. Accurately record test data, observations, and results in lab systems, logs, or databases. Prepare and distribute test reports to supervisors, engineers, production, and other relevant personnel in a timely manner. Promptly escalate any test results that fall outside of acceptable limits or indicate potential safety or quality issues. Quality Communication & Escalation Communicate clearly with supervisors and production teams regarding test findings, trends, and potential concerns. Recommend follow‑up testing or corrective actions when appropriate. Support root cause investigations by providing accurate and detailed test data. Training & Cross-Training Assist in training and cross‑training other lab technicians on test procedures, equipment use, and documentation standards. Share best practices and help ensure consistency in testing methods across the team. Provide backup support in other testing areas as needed. Team & Department Support Participate in weekly team meetings to discuss quality issues, departmental goals, and process improvements. Support employee development by engaging in ongoing coaching, training sessions, and company-offered learning opportunities. Actively participate in departmental meetings, training programs, and educational opportunities to stay current on procedures and standards. Compliance & Company Standards Demonstrate the Company's Core and Growth Values in all job functions and interactions. Adhere to all Ashley Furniture policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent lab operations. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized lab environment in compliance with company and regulatory requirements. Additional Responsibilities Assist with troubleshooting lab equipment and coordinating maintenance or calibration as needed. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the quality lab and broader operations. Complete other assignments and special projects as requested by leadership.
