Job Title:
Construction Materials Tester Job Description As a Construction Materials Field Professional, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and reliability of construction projects by conducting essential materials testing, inspections, and site observations. You will collaborate with contractors, engineers, and project teams to address on‑site challenges and help protect our clients' significant investments. Your work will support a wide variety of impactful projects—including transportation infrastructure (roads, bridges, airports), commercial developments, energy and power systems, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions. Using modern technology and field tools, you will deliver accurate, timely documentation that supports efficient, cost‑effective project decisions. Responsibilities Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. Communicate testing results, site requirements, and progress updates with project managers, engineering technicians, contractors, and client representatives. Transport material samples and documentation to the laboratory for additional analysis. Prepare and submit daily written and digital reports documenting data, results, and observations. Maintain, clean, and properly care for equipment, vehicles, and work areas. Assist with scheduling and dispatching technicians to project sites. Follow strict safety protocols and complete required pre‑task planning. Report safety concerns or issues to management immediately. Uphold quality standards on all assigned projects. Essential Skills Soil testing and sampling Construction materials testing Concrete testing and inspection Field observation and inspection of construction materials Strong communication with diverse project stakeholders Accurate data recording and report preparation Basic equipment operation and maintenance Additional Skills & Qualifications ACI Certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire) Nuclear Density Gauge certification preferred within 6 months Completion of required internal safety training High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 6 months of relevant experience Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record Work Environment This role is predominantly field‑based, with more than 90% of work performed outdoors in varying weather conditions—heat, cold, rain, and sun. Some weekend and overnight travel may be required. The position includes driving company vehicles such as a Ford F‑150 or comparable truck. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
