Weekend and overtime work may be required Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join our Quality Control team in Durham, NC. The Quality Inspector is responsible for conducting inspections of products, assemblies, raw materials, tooling, instruments, and components to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate will have strong blueprint reading skills, experience with precision measuring equipment, and a solid background in manufacturing quality inspection. Key Responsibilities Perform inspections of parts, assemblies, raw materials, tooling, and finished products to verify compliance with engineering and customer requirements. Utilize a variety of precision measuring instruments, testing equipment, and statistical process control methods. Conduct Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR), First Article Inspections (FAI), and conformity inspections. Identify, document, and report non-conforming materials or products. Review drawings, specifications, and quality requirements to ensure product compliance. Support continuous improvement and process improvement initiatives. Collaborate with engineers and production teams to resolve quality issues and inspection concerns. Escalate inspection findings that require engineering evaluation. Communicate effectively with internal departments and external customers regarding quality-related matters. Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation. Perform additional duties as assigned to support business needs. Required Qualifications Associate degree and/or a minimum of 5 years of related quality inspection or manufacturing experience. Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of quality inspection experience within a manufacturing environment. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). Experience inspecting PCB assemblies, cabling, or electronic components. Knowledge of UL component compliance requirements. Experience using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Preferred Qualifications ASQ Certification such as: Certified Quality Technician (CQT) Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) Other relevant quality certifications Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM). Experience within electronics, aerospace, defense, or highly regulated manufacturing environments. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing, warehouse, assembly, or machine shop environment. Exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels within acceptable safety standards. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and movement throughout production areas. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to perform physical activities including reaching, grasping, stooping, kneeling, crouching, balancing, climbing, and twisting.
