Installation Quality Control & Commissioning Technician Jacksonville, NC 28546 $25.61 - $30.84 an hour - Full-time $25.61 - $30.84 an hour - Full-time Job Overview Humphrey Heating and Air Conditioning is seeking an experienced HVAC Startup & Commissioning Technician to ensure all newly installed residential and light commercial HVAC systems are operating safely, efficiently, and according to manufacturer specifications before turnover to the customer. This position serves as the final quality control checkpoint between installation and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of airflow, static pressure, refrigerant charging, zoning systems, electrical diagnostics, and equipment commissioning procedures. The Startup & Commissioning Technician will work closely with installation teams to identify deficiencies, verify system performance, reduce warranty callbacks, and uphold company quality standards. Responsibilities Perform startup and commissioning of newly installed HVAC systems. Verify proper airflow and system performance using static pressure and airflow measurements. Total External Static Pressure (TESP) Supply and return temperatures Delta-T Superheat and subcooling Refrigerant pressures Voltage and amperage readings Confirm proper equipment setup, blower speed settings, and thermostat configuration. Commission and troubleshoot zoning systems, dampers, thermostats, and control boards. Verify proper operation of heat pumps, furnaces, air handlers, mini-splits, and package units. Complete startup sheets and commissioning reports accurately and thoroughly. Identify installation deficiencies and communicate corrective actions to installation teams and management. Assist with installer training related to airflow, refrigerant charging, and startup procedures. Register equipment warranties and maintain commissioning documentation as required. Ensure all installations meet manufacturer specifications, company standards, and applicable codes. Maintain a high level of professionalism when interacting with customers. Experience Minimum 5 years HVAC field experience preferred. Strong understanding of refrigeration cycle and refrigerant charging methods. Static pressure testing Airflow verification Zoning systems Heat pumps Gas furnaces Duct systems Variable-speed equipment Ability to read wiring diagrams and equipment specifications. EPA Certification required. NATE Certification preferred but not required. Valid driver's license with clean driving record. Strong troubleshooting and communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Preferred Skills Experience with Service Titan. Knowledge of Manual J, Manual D, and airflow design principles. Experience commissioning communicating and inverter-driven equipment. Ability to train and mentor installation personnel. Top notch communication skills
Flexibility and Adaptability Pay:
$25.61 - $30.84 per hour
