Job Description
DBE/MBE/WBE
requirements. Ensures compliance with NC Sedimentation and Pollution Control Act, and that all work performed in permitted areas is done in accordance with the permits. Effectively communicates and coordinates work with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays and disturbances while maximizing the progress of the projects.Additional Expectations:
Must apply Department safety program to operations. Ability to work safely in an outside environment with exposure to hazards present on construction sites including traffic, heights, weather extremes, and traversing rough/uneven terrain. Must be able to communicate in a clear, concise manner, both orally and in writing. Ability to make independent decisions using sound engineering judgement. Experience using computers and electronic tablets. Must be able to perform moderate physical activity such as walking, climbing, kneeling, and standing. Selected candidate must be able to legally operate motor vehicle. Safety toe shoes are required.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Grade and Salary Range:
NC09 $41,206 - $72,113 Management prefers applicants with the following: Experience with contract administration. Knowledge in understanding contracts, plans, standards and specifications. Experience in performing inspection, sampling, and testing of materials (concrete, asphalt density) to ensure compliance with NCDOT specifications. Working knowledge of computer equipment, (I-pads, desktop), software (HiCams and Share Point) and mathematical functions. Experience in maintaining neat, legible and accurate records and reports, including computer/iPad data entry. Associate's degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of progressive technician level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
