Composite Quality Assurance II
Job Description:
The Quality Assurance II (QA II) is responsible for owning and ensuring the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with AS9100, ISO9001, and customer-specific requirements. This role leads audit readiness, drives systemic corrective actions, and ensures that quality processes are not only followed, but effective in preventing recurrence.
Key Responsibilities:
QMS Ownership & Compliance
Own the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS)
Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO9001, and customer-specific requirements
Maintain and approve Quality Manuals, procedures, SOPs, and work instructions
Define and enforce document control standards (internal change controls alignment)
Ensure alignment between documented processes and actual execution (floor validation) Audit Leadership (Internal, External, Customer)
Lead internal audit program (planning, execution oversight, closure effectiveness)
Serve as primary interface for registrar and customer audits
Ensure audit readiness across departments at all times
Review and approve audit findings, responses, and corrective actions
Coach
QA/QE/QC
teams on audit expectations and responses
NCR / RCCA
System Effectiveness
Own the NCR system performance and effectiveness (AS9100 8.7)
Ensure proper classification, containment, and disposition of nonconforming product
Drive RCCA quality and effectiveness (AS9100 10.2)
Review and approve root cause analysis and corrective actions
Identify systemic issues and drive cross-functional resolution
KPI, Risk & Continuous Improvement
Own Quality KPIs (NCR trends, FPY, audit results, repeat defects)
Drive data-based decision-making using Power BI or equivalent tools
Identify and escalate systemic risks to leadership
Lead continuous improvement initiatives tied to quality performance Leadership & Development
Mentor QA I and QA Specialists
Provide guidance on NCR writing, RCCA quality, and audit readiness
Support training programs related to QMS and quality standards
Job Requirements:
Associate or Bachelor's degree, preferred
5+ years of experience in an
AS9100/ISO9001
manufacturing role, preferred
Basic knowledge of composite material related manufacturing equipment and processes a plus
Strong technical writing skills, the ability to communicate effectively with management, technical teams and all departments in the business
Ability to lead from within the team and contribute independently with a strong work ethic, be innovative, detail oriented, possess initiative, be positive, and be people oriented
Proficient with Word, PowerPoint and Excel, ERP Software, PowerBI, or other relevant data mining software applications
ASQ CQA certified or AS9100 lead auditor trained, with hands on implementation and assessment is a plus
Able to demonstrate solid knowledge and application of root cause analysis tools for process improvements and corrective action effectiveness
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and work in various physical conditions
Must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful Permanent Resident in compliance with ITAR regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of composites manufacturing processes
- Experience in aerospace-related manufacturing environment
- Certification as an AS9100 auditor
- Experience in customer facing Quality initiatives
- Familiarity and application of RCCA
- Familiarity and application of PFMEA
- Familiarity and application of PPAP

Hours of Operation:
Normal business hours: 7:00AM - 4:00PM; Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends and holidays as scheduled by leadership.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Combination of indoor and outdoor activities with varying conditions
- Requires walking, standing, sitting, climbing, balancing, bending, reaching, handling, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
- Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds
- May involve operating material handling equipment in a safe manner
- Work may include exposure to variable noise levels, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc., requiring personal protective equipment
- Some positions may require working with small parts/components, necessitating excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
