Production Quality Technician Night Shift Bilingual Pembroke, NC 28372 From $24 an hour - Full-time From $24 an hour - Full-time Job Summary The Quality Tech is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing quality assurance and food safety systems to ensure that all French fry products meet company standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. This role leads quality initiatives across raw material handling, processing, packaging, and distribution, ensuring consistent product quality, food safety, and continuous improvement throughout the plant. Most of the nightshift speaks Spanish, so being bilingual is beneficial in this role Key Responsibilities Quality & Food Safety Systems Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Food Safety programs (e.g., HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs). Ensure compliance with local, national, and international food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA, CFIA, EFSA, or equivalent). Lead internal and external audits (regulatory, customer, third-party certifications such as SQF, BRC, or
FSSC 22000
). Maintain documentation, records, and traceability systems. Production Quality Oversight Oversee quality control at all stages of production: raw potato receiving, washing, cutting, blanching, frying, freezing, and packaging. Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and quality parameters such as color, texture, moisture, oil content, seasoning, and defect levels. Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints, and product deviations; lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA). Approve or reject raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods. Continuous Improvement Analyze quality data and trends to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, R D, and Supply Chain teams to improve processes and reduce waste. Support new product development, process changes, and equipment commissioning from a quality perspective. Supplier & Customer Management Evaluate and approve suppliers based on quality and food safety standards. Manage customer quality requirements, specifications, and audits. Act as the primary quality contact for customers and regulatory agencies. Qualifications Experience 2+ years of quality management or quality assurance experience in food manufacturing. Experience in frozen foods, potato processing, or frying operations preferred. Hands-on experience with HACCP and food safety certification standards. Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and quality systems. Leadership and team management skills. Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis abilities. Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Working Conditions Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to cold storage, heat, noise, and food processing equipment. Occasional extended hours to support audits, production issues, or process changes.
