Job Description

We are currently hiring a Ferrous Scale Operator for our busy Raleigh shredder yard . Position Summary As a Ferrous Scale Operator , you will be the first point of contact for customers and truck drivers entering our facility. You will play a critical role in accurately weighing incoming ferrous materials, processing transactions, providing excellent customer service, and helping keep operations running smoothly and safely. Key Responsibilities Greet customers and truck drivers in a friendly, professional manner as they enter the yard. Provide clear instructions on where and how to unload materials. Operate the ferrous scale to accurately weigh incoming metal loads. Record weights, input data into our system, and issue scale tickets efficiently. Handle customer inquiries, payments, and occasional complaints professionally. Ensure all transactions are processed correctly and documented. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized scale and customer area. Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Work collaboratively with yard staff and supervisors to support overall operations. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in scale operations, weighmaster duties, customer service, or a scrap/recycling environment is strongly preferred. Strong mathematical skills and proficiency with computers/systems for data entry. Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Physically capable of standing for long periods and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Reliable, punctual, and safety-minded with a strong work ethic.
