Job Summary:
Responsible for testing and inspection of aggregate, asphalt, concrete and/or emulsions products produced and delivered to internal and external customers.Main Responsibilities:
- Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
- Support, promote, and practice the Company's core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
- Read, understand, and demonstrate working knowledge of the basic specifications, principles, and products associated with the construction, aggregate, concrete, and asphalt industry
- Inspect products for quality, identify and take corrective action as necessary
- Ensure that accurate test results are reported in a timely manner; review and analyze test results to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications
- Conduct assigned work according to company policies, regulatory agency guidance and compliance standards
- Safely operate company vehicles to travel to other offices and work locations as necessary
- Additional duties as assigned by QC Technician 3 or above.
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent; associates degree in related discipline preferred
- ACI and DOT testing certified, or ability to become certified within 1 year; other certifications may be required
- Valid driver's license and ability to maintain clean driving record required
Skills:
- Prior experience related to quality control methods, materials production, construction processes and/or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred, but not required
- Prior experience performing quality control testing of aggregates, asphalt and/or ready-mix concrete highly preferred, but not required
- Ability to learn and interpret applicable reference and testing material manuals and specifications governed by federal, state and local testing agencies, to include DOT, ASTM, and AASHTO standards
- Ability to write and speak clearly and effectively to all levels of employees, both individually and in large groups
- Ability to work with a team to resolve technical issues
- Basic computer skills including use of
MS Office Products Physical Requirements:
- Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety guidelines
- Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
- Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
- Regularly required to perform tasks requiring visual acuity
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Frequently required to Stand/work on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
- Frequently work near heavy equipment and machinery, exposure to loud noise
- Frequent exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust and loud noise, and all-weather conditions
