POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Inspector ensures that all manufactured plastic sheet and roll products meet customer specifications and Grimco's internal quality standards. This role performs in-process and final inspections, uses precision measuring tools, verifies color and surface properties, completes work-order documentation, and partners closely with production to maintain consistent quality throughout each run.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Work Order & Specification Review Retrieve work order packages and match them to corresponding work orders on the production tablet. Review all customer-required specifications Access and understand information on the Extended Description Inquiry screen. 2. In-Process & Final Inspections Perform required checks on each skid, included in
GM-W0030
Take samples for conformance verification. 3. Precision Measurement & Testing Use and maintain the following instruments according to
GM-W0030
Micrometer
  • gauge measurement at multiple sheet locations Tape Measure
  • length, width, and squareness checks Dyne testing
  • verify surface energy values for corona-treated materials Spectrophotometer
  • measure LABCh color values Densitometer
  • check optical density Gloss Meter
  • measure surface gloss levels Calibrate measurement devices before use per instructions.
4. Visual Inspection Inspect sheets under strong lighting for defects including but not limited to: o Scratches o Rolling defects o Parting lines o Shatter o Gauge inconsistency 5. Documentation & Data Entry Enter and save inspection data into the computer. 6. Collaboration & Communication Notify leads or supervisors immediately when measurements fall out of specification. Support operators with clear, accurate defect feedback. 7. Scrap Responsibilities Record all scrap accurately in the system using the correct scrap type and reason code. Perform Root Cause Analysis using Ishikawa, 5 Whys etc Ask operators directly when scrap is created: o "What caused this?" o "When did it start?" o "Has anything changed on the line?" Perform follow-up checks anytime scrap is detected to ensure the issue has been corrected. Escalate immediately if recurring scrap or unidentified causes appear. Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Experience in manufacturing or quality inspection preferred Ability to use micrometers, tape measures, and other measuring tools Basic computer skills (Excel required) Ability to read work orders, specifications, and technical instructions Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift materials as required Preferred Experience working with spectrophotometers, densitometers, or gloss meters Prior QC experience in plastics, printing, or related industries Familiarity with tolerances and dimensional inspection•

  • WORK ENVIRONMENT
    Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to heat, noise, and moving equipment. Requires use of PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection and cut gloves. Frequent interaction with production staff, supervisors, and QC leadership.
