Position Overview:
A Quality Specialist 3 is responsible for performing a variety of detailed electro-optical tests on cables and systems throughout the production process, based on internal as well as contractual requirements. In this position, you will begin to develop an understanding in high voltage safety requirements and test techniques, and electro-optical fault location and diagnosis. This position requires strong attention to detail, good analytical skills and decision-making capability as well as the ability to work independently.Responsibilities and Duties:
- Performs characterization tests on fiber optic cables, including OTDR, Chromatic Dispersion, Polarization Mode Dispersion, Electrical Tests (High Voltage, IR and DCR).
- Analyze results and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Safely operates various hand and power tools for preparing cable ends for test. Generates failure reports to track non-compliances.
- Interfaces with manufacturing, quality, management, and customer representatives professionally and respectfully.
- Follows verbal and written instructions, accepts increased responsibility, and is accountable for his/her actions.
- Follows safety guidelines (PPE, etc.) and demonstrates safe work practices.
- Maintains a good safety record, has a working knowledge of behavioral based safety initiatives and accepts the responsibility to communicate unsafe situations.
- Adheres to the safety and quality standards (goals and metrics) of the organization while working within a team environment.
- While interacting with customers and visitors, represents the Company in a positive manner.
