Why does the job exist? The Performance and Quality Assurance Bureau provides objective performance assessments to Juvenile Justice Services (JJS) leadership to help support their quality improvement efforts. We assess compliance with JJS procedures and national-best practices by providing functional audits, trend analysis, and recommendations. Reports are created that allow leadership to evaluate performance over time and in comparison to similar facilities. How does it get done? The incumbent in this position will conduct and document various types of audits including reviews of client charts for the medical, behavioral health and security programs in the Juvenile Justice Facilities. Responsibilities include monitoring and reporting compliance with facility policies and procedures, investigating allegations of non-compliance with policies and procedures and/or investigating specific concerns and serving as a resource to assist facility staff to improve compliance and service delivery. Who are the customers? Juvenile Justice Division Directors, Deputy Director, Facility Superintendents, Deputy Superintendents, Program Managers, Facility Medical Director, Deputy Director for facility Behavioral Health and Behavioral Health Therapy Supervisor. Ideal Candidate Juvenile Justice Division Directors, Deputy Director, Facility Superintendents, Deputy Superintendents, Program Managers, Facility Medical Director, Deputy Director for facility Behavioral Health and Behavioral Health Therapy Supervisor. Minimum Qualification Associate Degree in Social Work, Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, or Family Services from an accredited college/university and two (2) years of any combination of experience, including working with communities on health or social service-related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health, and/or health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Working Conditions Office setting, extensive personal computer work, sitting, standing walking for long periods. Exposure to individuals who are possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or otherwise distressed. Occasional travel may be required. Work is primarily in a juvenile correctional facility.
