Job Description

Square Root Services, LLC is hiring! We are seeking to fill a full-time position for a Materials Testing Technician. This position is in Hobbs, NM. SRS offers competitive benefits package and provides training. A materials technician is responsible for performing a variety of routine materials testing in the field and laboratory according to
ASTM, AASHTO, FAA
Standards. Responsibilities for a materials technician are subject to but, not limited to performing moisture and compaction tests using a Nuclear Densimeter or sand cone device, obtaining representative field samples, and performing a variety of tests on concrete materials to determine temperature, unit weight, slump, yield, and air entrainment, performing Nuclear Densimeter or EGauge compaction test on PMPB (Asphalt), specific gravity, bulk specific gravity, and ignition burns, running proctors according to ASTM or AASHTO standards. Technicians will also help with construction inspections on certain projects. Special Requirements Materials Technicians must go through ACNM (TTCP Training/Certifications) for Aggregate, Soils, Radiation Safety and Nuclear Densimeter. Technicians will go through ACI (American Concrete Institute) for Field and Lab Concrete, MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration). Manual/Physical Technicians will be required to hand calculate worksheets (with calculator). Understand the standards of The State of New Mexico (NMDOT), American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM), American Association of State Highway and Transportation (AASHTO), Federal Aviation Association (FAA). Uses common hand tools, such as sledgehammer, wet saw, shovel for sampling/testing materials. Must be able to lift anywhere between 35-100lbs. Work in various weather conditions while performing routine sampling and testing on construction materials. Work in small, cramped area while performing density test in trenches, work around high temperatures (140° - 1000°) in the lab (Ignition Oven burns at 1000°), temperatures (250° - 350°) while in the field during paving operations. Mental Technicians will be required to work most of their day by oneself. Required to represent the company and oneself in a professional manner. Hours will be determined by type of material testing, project requirements, and contractor needs.
