Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Quality Supervisor, this position is responsible for implementing techniques, processes, and procedures at the plant level to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards. Responsible for adhering to Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices, to ensure the production of safe quality products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Calibrate and maintain testing equipment in the lab Complete pre-run startup checks to ensure materials, equipment, and products meet the specified requirements Perform ATP and Allergen swab testing to release equipment post CIP Inspect, test, and approve bulk ingredient shipments prior to unloading Inspect, test, and approve each batch of juice before releasing to process Inspect, test, and approve finished product to ensure it meets the specified requirements Collect and store finished product samples following specified guidelines Incubate and plate finished product samples for micro testing Monitor product tempering for ingredients that require thawing before use Place nonconforming materials and products on hold when identified Escalate food safety and quality issues to Quality Supervisor or Manager to ensure they are properly handled Inspect product safety devices (screens and magnets) throughout the process to ensure ingredients and product is free of contaminants Complete required Master Sanitation Scheduled Tasks throughout department Ensure all required documentation is complete and accurate Help resolve food safety and quality issues on the production floor Practice, teach and enforce the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) established for Quality Practice and enforce all Safety policies and procedures Support team member safety by promoting safe work practices, monitoring compliance with policies, and minimizing physical hazards to promote an overall safe work environment Perform all other duties as assigned Education and Skills High school diploma or GED, and 2 years work experience in a manufacturing environment Read, write, speak, and comprehend English Comprehend basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, weights and measures, and efficient use of a calculator Basic computer and data entry skills Possess mechanical aptitude with the ability to assemble, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on manufacturing equipment. Ability to communicate both written and orally within the organization Ability to give positive suggestions to improve operations in the work center Team Oriented - being helpful, respectful, approachable, building strong working relationships and a positive work environment, is responsible, honest, loyal, interacting with others tactfully, resolving conflicts appropriately, and adapting to change Ability to manage time efficiently Ability to work well under changing demands Follow verbal and written instructions Must have good work ethics, be highly motivated, and be a hands-on problem solver Ability to detect, recognize, and judge discrepancies Requires accuracy, reliability, and attention to quality Physical Demands Vision, hearing, and speaking to meet performance standards Climb ladder up to 10 feet off the ground using safety equipment provided Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods, reach, push, pull, lift, climb, stoop, squat, and use manual dexterity to work with the following tools: blending machines, scales, pallet jacks, drum dollies, mops, brooms, portable stairs, hoses, forklifts etc. Ability to safely lift 50 pounds on a frequent basis and move heavier weights using proper equipment and/or team lifting techniques Work Environment Employees must be able to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment that may include exposure to odors, dust, moderate noise levels, and fluctuations in temperature and ventilation. Work environment may involve exposure to inclement weather. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times, which may include but is not limited to: safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, gloves, hairnets, uniforms, and face shields, as required by specific job duties and safety protocols.
