Full-time Job Summary:
The Quality Technician at Steel & O'Brien Manufacturing provides advanced quality support beyond routine inspection activities. This role bridges Quality Control and Quality Engineering by performing detailed inspections, supporting nonconformance investigations, and assisting with continuous improvement initiatives to ensure products meet internal standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. Primary Functions:
Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on fabricated stainless-steel components and assemblies Conduct inspections of weld quality, surface finish, and dimensional conformance to engineering requirements Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to support dimensional verification Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and GD&T requirements Document inspection results, nonconformances, and quality records in accordance with company procedures Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts to address quality issues Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve quality-related concerns
Primary Competencies:
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T Skilled use of precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, and other inspection tools Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards Ability to analyze inspection data and identify trends or nonconformances Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills Working knowledge of quality systems and documentation practices Dependable and consistent work habits in a production environment
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required Experience inspecting fabricated stainless steel components and assemblies Experience with CMM programming and operation Working knowledge of precision measurement tools and inspection techniques Familiarity with welding inspection and surface finish requirements Ability to follow documented procedures and maintain accurate quality records

Fast-paced manufacturing environment. Requires standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods. May involve exposure to noise and varying temperatures. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.

Salary Range:
$21/hour
