Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The CMM Programmer/ Inspector's primary responsibility is to program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to measure the dimensions and geometries of manufactured parts. They will analyze measurement data, compare results to engineering drawings, and generate reports to ensure parts meet quality standards. Additionally, they will contribute to process improvement efforts and maintain equipment to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Programming CMM:
Developing measurement programs for the CMM based on engineering drawings, CAD models, or other specifications. This involves understanding geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles and selecting appropriate measurement strategies.
Calibration and Setup:
Calibrating the CMM machine regularly to ensure accurate measurements. Setting up the machine for specific measurement tasks, including fixture design and alignment.
Measurement and Inspection:
Operating the CMM to measure dimensions, geometries, and surface characteristics of machined parts. Inspecting parts against engineering drawings and specifications to verify conformance to quality standards.
Data Analysis:
Analyzing measurement data to identify trends, deviations, and potential quality issues. Using statistical methods and software tools to interpret measurement results and make decisions about part acceptance or rejection.
Documentation and Reporting :
Documenting measurement procedures, results, and any deviations from specifications. Generating inspection reports and certificates to communicate findings to stakeholders, such as production teams, quality assurance personnel, or customers.
    Troubleshooting and Maintenance :
Troubleshooting issues with the CMM machine or measurement equipment and performing routine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Provide value to our customers by using Lean tools and concepts to identify and eliminate waste in all forms (scrap/rework, transportation, motion, waiting, inventory, over production, over processing, and under-utilization of people). Uses systemic thinking by seeing processes from end to end and works to challenge the status quo to eliminate the root cause of problems. Is involved in individual and/or team activities that involve using Lean tools and concepts to improve the flow of information and material. Other duties as assigned.
