Position Summary:
Senior technical inspection role for Lourdes Quality, responsible for the inspection of machined detail parts and mechanical, electromechanical, and cable/wire harness assemblies. Develops and maintains inspection methods, owns First Article Inspection (AS9102) package development, coordinates customer and government source inspection, and trains and qualifies Level I and Level II Inspectors. Develops, applies, and maintains quality standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation per AS9100. Keeps management apprised of any discrepancies and maintains the integrity and Quality of Lourdes products to meet or exceed the requirements of our company, customers, and the AS9100 standard. Position reports to the Quality Control Supervisor.
Essential Functions:
  • Reads and interprets complex machining, wiring, and cable/harness assembly drawings, schematics, wire run lists, and engineering models.
  • Performs first article, first piece, in-process, and final inspection of machined parts and mechanical, electromechanical, and cable/wire harness assemblies prior to release of product to our customer.
  • Inspects cable and wire harness assemblies to IPC/WHMA-A-620 and soldered terminations to J-STD-001, including wire preparation, crimp quality, contact insertion and retention, connector assembly, strain relief, marking, and workmanship.
  • Performs crimp validation, including crimp height measurement and pull (tensile) testing of crimped terminations, and verifies results against applicable specifications.
  • Performs electrical verification of assemblies, including point-to-point continuity, insulation resistance, and dielectric withstanding voltage (hipot) testing using automated harness test equipment.
  • Creates, validates, and maintains CMM inspection programs; sets up and operates the CMM for dimensional inspection of machined detail parts.
  • Surface plate inspection using dial indicator and height master; use of precision hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, gage pins, gage blocks, tool scopes, and optical comparator.
  • Verifies torque on connectors and hardware using calibrated torque tools and confirms the calibration status of measuring and test equipment prior to use.
  • Performs and leads First Article Inspections per AS9102 and customer-specific requirements; owns FAIR package development, characteristic ballooning, and submittal (Net-Inspect).
  • Reviews and approves FAIRs generated by Level I and Level II Inspectors, third-party FAIRs, and non Net-Inspect AS9102 FAIRs.
  • Schedules, coordinates, and hosts source inspection with Customer and Government Representatives (DCMA, SQE, CSR); owns the FAIR and inspection data package presented at source inspection and drives resolution and closure of source inspection findings.
  • Supports DQR/LCS responsibilities for customer programs such as Hamilton, Honeywell, and Pratt & Whitney, including P&W material certifications (LCS).
  • Develops and maintains inspection plans (Quality Planning), quality standards, process standards, and inspection work instructions per AS9100.
  • Trains, qualifies, and mentors Level I and Level II Inspectors; responsible for training on CMM inspection and on cable/harness acceptance criteria.
  • Participates as an active member of the Material Review Board (MRB): disposition of nonconforming product, containment, and root cause/corrective action.
  • Performs internal audits per AS9100 and supports supplier compliance and quality activities.
  • Reviews and signs Certificates of Conformance (C of C) and other required acceptance documentation; generates inspection, reject, and other reports as required and logs all results of inspection work.
  • Keeps records and certifications as required by the Lourdes Quality System; retrieves and enters data using a computer and operating software including Adobe, Excel, Word, GageTrak, and GMS, and on customer websites as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education Required:
  • High School or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with commercial standards, military standards, ISO standards, and AS standards (AS9100), including IPC/WHMA-A-620 and
J-STD-001
acceptance criteria.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 and/or
J-STD-001
certification (CIS/CIT) preferred.
Experience Required:
  • Minimum 5 years of inspection experience in an aerospace/aircraft environment or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years programming and inspecting with a CMM.
  • Demonstrated experience inspecting cable and wire harness assemblies to
IPC/WHMA-A-620
(J-STD-001 soldering experience a plus).
    FAI/AS9102
    experience required (Net-Inspect preferred).
    • Working knowledge of GD&T tolerance application.
    Pay:
    $33.00 - $37.00 per hour
