Quality Technician Job Description The Quality Technician plays a key role in ensuring that automotive components consistently meet rigorous quality, safety, and performance standards aligned with Japanese manufacturing principles and Lean Manufacturing. This position supports production by performing detailed inspections, documenting results, identifying defects, and collaborating closely with engineering and production teams to maintain world‑class quality throughout the manufacturing process. Responsibilities Inspect incoming raw materials and supplier components to verify compliance with specifications and quality requirements. Conduct routine in‑process audits on production lines to ensure adherence to established quality standards and procedures. Perform final product verification, including dimensional checks, functional tests, and visual inspections on finished automotive parts. Assist in root cause analysis of defects using tools such as 5 Whys, Ishikawa (fishbone) diagrams, and Pareto analysis to identify and address underlying issues. Maintain accurate and complete inspection records, quality reports, and non‑conformance documentation in accordance with quality system requirements. Oversee and verify the proper calibration status of gauges, measurement tools, and testing equipment used in inspections. Participate in continuous improvement activities and events to support process enhancements that reduce waste, defects, and rework. Provide clear feedback to production operators and supervisors regarding quality issues, non‑conformances, and required corrective actions. Support the implementation and maintenance of quality standards based on ISO 9001 or IATF quality systems. Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality team members to resolve quality concerns and improve overall product reliability. Essential Skills High school diploma or equivalent. 1-3 years of experience in automotive quality or manufacturing quality inspection, or a closely related quality role. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications with a high degree of accuracy. Proficiency with measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). Strong understanding of ISO 9001 or IATF quality systems and their application in a manufacturing environment. Basic computer skills for data entry, report generation, and electronic documentation. Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to accuracy and precision in all inspection activities. Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced production environment while managing multiple inspection tasks. Experience working in a quality position for at least 1-2 years, preferably in a production setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Technical training in quality, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts and Japanese manufacturing principles. Familiarity with 5S methodology and its application on the shop floor. Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and the ability to interpret basic statistical data. Experience with PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), or control plans. Strong communication skills to clearly convey inspection findings and quality concerns to cross‑functional teams. Ability to collaborate with production, engineering, and quality personnel to support continuous improvement initiatives. Work Environment This role operates in a fast‑paced automotive production setting with frequent interaction with production, engineering, and quality teams. The position requires regular standing, walking, and light lifting while working on or near active production lines and inspection areas. You will routinely use precision measurement tools, gauges, and testing equipment, and work within a structured quality system environment that emphasizes safety, organization, and continuous improvement. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dublin, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
