Job Description

1. Compliance to Safety Rules 2. Compliance to Quality Standards 3. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned:
  • Test incoming raw materials and determine acceptability
  • Verify raw material data on vendor supplied certificates of analysis and determine acceptability.
  • Test finished castables and determine acceptability.
  • Batch and test new products, modified products and existing products as required.
  • Batch materials for castable products.
  • Maintain electronic files of test data.
  • Enter test data into statistical program.
  • Report non-standard test results to the Quality Manager.
  • Perform special projects as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain lab and work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Assist QA Manager and/or Director of R&D with any product development projects.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or
Experience:
High School Diploma or GED, high school diploma preferred; computer experience in word processing and spreadsheets; 2 years of refractory experience or quality control experience preferred.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills :
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, area, circumference, volume, and decimals. Ability to convert units of measure.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud due to running equipment.
