RESPONSIBILITIESSet up and operate the extrusion press to shape hot billets into productsInstall dies, mandrels, containers, heating coils, press tools, extrusion heads, and run-out bridgingRemove the billet from the furnace when the color indicates the correct temperature and guide it along the extrusion press conveyor onto the press bed, and into the billet containerStart ram that spreads billet into a container and forces it through the pressRegulate the rate of extrusion to prevent ruptureStart press run-out table and butt shears to guide extrusion from the pressPull extrusion along the conveyor to the racking tableSpray dies with lubricant and causticAccurately record crew time, number of billets used, and items processedMay operate extrusion press equipped with a furnace that emits hot billets into press chamber for the ram to force through dieMay set up and operate extrusion press to shape hot, radioactive uranium fuel elementsInspect product for quality and damagesComply with health and safety regulations and always wear protective gear
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Previous manufacturing or warehouse experience preferred but not requiredRequired to stand for long periodsEngage in frequent bending, squatting, pushing, and pullingMust be able to work in various weather conditionsWork in a fast-paced environment with precisionStrong communication and collaboration skillsGreat attendance and punctualSurge hires for a variety of top jobs in the area.
