Full Job Description Description:
Quality Inspector The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing inspections on graphite components and machined parts to ensure they meet internal specifications, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards. This position supports Element 6's Quality Management System (QMS) by maintaining accurate inspection records, identifying nonconformances, and assisting with basic process-improvement activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on, and eager to support high-quality production in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Inspection & Measurement Perform in-process, first-article, final, and receiving inspections. Conduct visual and dimensional inspections on graphite components and machined parts. Operate precision measurement equipment, including:
CMM FARO
Arm Go/no-go gauges Micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other standard metrology tools Perform functional testing using gauges, test fixtures, and specialized tools. Verify conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements. Documentation & Quality Records Accurately complete inspection reports, test records, and non-conformance reports (NCRs). Maintain calibration records and ensure all measurement equipment is properly calibrated. Assist with maintaining and updating quality documentation such as inspection criteria, work instructions, and control plans. Quality Support & Collaboration Monitor production processes and communicate identified quality issues to the appropriate teams. Participate in basic root-cause and problem-solving activities (e.g., 5 Whys, RCA). Support continuous-improvement initiatives including Lean, 5S, and process-efficiency efforts. Provide clear feedback to operators regarding inspection requirements and quality expectations. Assist with internal, customer, and external audits as needed.
Requirements:
Requirements Essential Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification preferred. 2+ years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong proficiency using measurement equipment, including
CMM, FARO
arm, calipers, micrometers, and go/no-go gauges. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO 9001 and basic understanding of SPC. Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation habits. Basic computer proficiency (Excel, Word, and QMS databases). Additional Skills & Attributes Suitable for candidates who are hands-on, dependable, and eager to grow. Comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial/manufacturing setting. Experience with both inspection and machine operation is a plus.
