Job Title:
Quality Inspector Job Description The Quality Inspector inspects, audits, and reports on materials, processes, and products using precise measuring instruments and techniques to ensure conformance with established quality standards. This role ensures that products and services are fit for purpose, consistent, and meet both internal specifications and external customer requirements. The position supports compliance with quality expectations by monitoring assembly and service processes, verifying that procedures are followed, and confirming that processes remain in control. Responsibilities Inspect, audit, and report on materials, processes, and finished products to verify conformance with quality standards and customer specifications. Monitor assembly and service processes to ensure procedures are followed correctly and remain in control. Use the ERP system to access part drawings, routings, work instructions, and other required documentation. Locate and review work instructions, assembly instructions, drawings, and other relevant information in the database as needed. Correctly interpret internal and customer requirements from drawings, blueprints, and related documentation. Understand work order packets, including travelers, bills of materials, routings, and family drawings, and ensure part traceability is maintained. Verify that routing operations are completed and properly signed off to maintain accurate production records. Inspect parts to the required inspection levels based on internal and customer-defined criteria. Measure parts using calipers, micrometers, and other precision equipment, accurately working with both metric and imperial units. Use a microscope to inspect small parts and features with extremely close tolerances. Compare measured data against customer specifications to confirm that all dimensions and tolerances are within acceptable limits. Assist in packaging parts and ensure all packaging activities comply with quality and customer standards. Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction in all inspection and quality-related activities. Keep work areas neat, clean, and well organized to support a safe and efficient operation. Maintain regular, predictable attendance to support consistent production and inspection workflows. Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall quality and production goals. Essential Skills Experience in inspection and quality control within a manufacturing or assembly environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and related technical documentation. Proficiency using calipers, micrometers, microscopes, and other precision measuring instruments. Strong understanding of measuring units, including millimeters and inches, and ability to work accurately with both. Ability to compare measured data to customer specifications and verify compliance with tight tolerances. High attention to detail and accuracy when working with very small parts and extremely close tolerances. Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining focus and quality standards. Capability to use an ERP system to look up part drawings, routings, instructions, and other relevant information. Ability to understand and follow work order packets, including travelers, bills of materials, routings, and family drawings. Strong commitment to maintaining product quality and customer satisfaction. Reliable, regular, and predictable attendance. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with visual inspection of small and complex components. Familiarity with assembly processes and how they relate to quality requirements. Comfort working with microscopes and other technical inspection equipment. Strong organizational skills to maintain traceability and accurate documentation. Work Environment The work environment is very clean, organized, and technical, with a strong emphasis on precision and quality. You will work primarily on a first-shift schedule in a production and inspection setting that handles very small parts with extremely close tolerances. The role involves frequent use of microscopes, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools, as well as regular interaction with an ERP system and technical documentation. The workspace is designed to support focus, accuracy, and cleanliness throughout the inspection and packaging processes. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Akron, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
