Job Description

Step into Quality at EMD Pittsburgh Join the EMD Pittsburgh facility's Quality team as a GD&T Quality Inspector. In this role, you'll be central to our manufacturing quality assurance efforts—verifying parts, subassemblies, and simple tooling against drawings and specifications to keep production on track and compliant. A day in the life Confirm machine setups using a range of inspection devices before and during production. Evaluate basic manufacturing tooling—cutting tools, assembly fixtures, and machining fixtures—for readiness and conformity. Check characteristics tied to welding processes and assess base materials using appropriate inspection equipment. Conduct liquid penetrant and visual examinations in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A and
NAVSEA-250-1500.
Measure and verify electrical properties of mechanisms for wound coil assemblies (e.g., megger, fluke, HI-POT). Review and verify process documentation to ensure adherence to internal procedures and external specifications. Inspect individual components and subassemblies to confirm correct fit and assembly; supply data required for any special machining.
Use computers for inspection tasks:
documentation review, labor/time entries, digital photography, communications, and operation of computer-aided inspection equipment, along with other systems and programs. Stay current with inspection-related quality procedures and maintain qualifications per internal procedures and customer requirements. Capture photographs of products, processes, and product-related items as part of the quality record. Support additional inspection activities of equal or lower complexity, including duties referenced in lower inspector position descriptions. What you bring U.S. citizenship required due to DoD program needs. Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearances/approvals. Proficiency in reading blueprints for machined parts (ASME Y14.5) and applying shop math, including algebra and trigonometry. At least one year of inspection and/or machining experience. High school diploma or equivalent attained through training and/or mechanical experience. Work schedule and training This is a union role assigned to one of three shifts. Initial training will be conducted on first/daylight shift.
