Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Quality Control Technician tests all Smooth-On's chemically formulated products and chemical raw materials for quality to ensure that each product and raw material conforms to all standard specifications and requirements.
Essential Job Functions:
Conduct routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, in-process, and finished products, using a variety of testing devices and procedures to maintain product quality. Equipment used for testing includes viscometer, FTIR, Tinius Olsen, titrators, Karl Fischer titrator. Maintain accurate and complete records of all testing completed in Smooth-On's Manufacturing Database. Responsible for calibration of test equipment. Responsible for stocking all the chemicals and supplies needed for Quality Control. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Complete speck checks in the lab. Scan all certificates of analysis for in-house raw materials, scan SDS's for lab's experimental raw materials, and maintain the databases. Assist in performing and recording Quality Assurance checks and report findings to the Quality Assurance Manager as time permits. Inspections of all areas of
Smooth-On:
Production, Wet pack, Dry Packaging, Warehousing, and Shipping. Ensuring that only the highest quality products are manufactured, properly packed, labeled and shipped. I.E. Proper net weights, matching lot numbers, labeling, completed shipments, etc. Recording of all inspections using an Excel database. Scale control/calibration checks.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong computer skills in Excel and Word. Know your job and have a solid familiarity with tasks/components being inspected. Take responsibility for your actions. Have a sense of accountability, urgency and excellence. Make sound and timely decisions. Use good problem solving, decision making, and planning tools. Be levelheaded, even keeled and calm-tempered.
Experience and Education:
BA/BS degree with a minimum of two (2) years successful related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Previous experience in a chemical industry preferred. Strong computer skills.
