Job Title:
AOI Technician Job Description The AOI Technician supports second-shift printed circuit board (PCB) inspection and quality assurance by operating Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment, identifying defects, and collaborating with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to ensure products meet IPC and customer standards. Responsibilities Operate and monitor AOI inspection systems to inspect PCB assemblies for defects such as solder issues, component placement errors, and polarity problems. Review AOI results, confirm true defects, and accurately disposition false calls. Document inspection findings in designated manufacturing or quality systems in a timely and accurate manner. Communicate identified defects, trends, and recurring issues to Quality and Manufacturing teams to support corrective actions. Perform basic AOI program setup, including adjustments and recipe selection, as required for different products. Support root cause analysis activities and contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the inspection and production processes. Maintain accurate and complete inspection records in compliance with ISO standards and customer quality requirements. Follow all ESD, safety, quality, and work instruction guidelines while performing inspection and related tasks. Escalate recurring defects, unusual findings, or equipment issues to the appropriate technical or supervisory teams. Assist with training and cross-training of AOI operators or other team members as needed to support operational flexibility. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience operating AOI equipment in an electronics manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret work instructions, assembly drawings, and defect criteria documents. Basic understanding of PCB assembly processes and common electronic components. Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify subtle defects and anomalies. Ability to work independently while maintaining high accuracy and productivity. Comfort using manufacturing software and inspection systems to review results and document findings. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with common AOI platforms such as CyberOptics, Mirtec, Omron, or similar systems.
IPC-A-610
certification or prior exposure to IPC standards and acceptance criteria. Background in electronics quality inspection or surface-mount technology (SMT) production environments. Experience supporting continuous improvement or quality initiatives within manufacturing operations. Familiarity with microscopes and other inspection equipment used in electronics manufacturing. Work Environment This role operates in an ESD-controlled electronics manufacturing environment focused on PCB assembly and quality inspection. The AOI Technician works primarily on second shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., using AOI inspection systems, microscopes, and related quality tools and software. Work follows established safety, ESD, and quality procedures, with close collaboration among Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams in a structured, process-driven setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Mount Pleasant, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
