• 40/hour Full-Time Job Summary Folino Construction is hiring an experienced Asphalt & Concrete QC Technician to support our paving and concrete crews on projects throughout Pennsylvania.

You'll handle materials testing, density verification, and quality control on active job sites — making sure every lift and every pour meets PennDOT spec. This is a single technician position with a clear scope: support the crews, run the tests, document the results.

Responsibilities Asphalt:

Develop and document roller patterns for each mix and lift Operate nuclear density gauge to verify in-place compaction Take core samples and prepare them for lab analysis Monitor mat temperatures, joints, and laydown quality

Concrete:

Perform slump, air content, temperature, and unit weight tests Cast, cure, and break test cylinders per ASTM standards Take cores for hardened concrete verification Document mix designs and field conditions

General:

Maintain nuclear gauge calibration and licensing records Submit accurate daily QC reports Flag issues early to prevent rework Requirements 5+ years experience in asphalt and/or concrete QC and materials testing Nuclear gauge certification (current, in good standing) Experience developing roller patterns and interpreting density results Proficiency with ASTM concrete field testing (C31, C138, C143, C172, C173/C231) Working knowledge of PennDOT Publication 408 Valid driver's license Willingness to work night shifts as project schedules require Able to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in all conditions Preferred NECEPT (PennDOT Asphalt Field Technician) certification ACI Field Testing Technician
