Job Description

Job Description:
Quality Control performs a variety of duties under the direction of the Quality Control Manager. They will perform various operational functions to ensure the effective operation of the facility by ensuring that prescribed schedules, operating policies and procedures are followed.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Sort and grade finished product to proper specifications
  • Trim, clean, weed, and consolidate plants according to quality standards
  • Sort, grade and discard propagation material and plant according to quality standards
  • Move plant material to specified locations
  • Work in vegetable production, planting, cultivation, harvesting
  • Maintain proper level of materials and supplies, including unloading items with equipment
Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Assist growers as needed/assigned to maintain plant health and quality (trimming, consolidating, weeding, watering, moving plants)
  • Assist in maintenance of plant health and quality through proper irrigation in all areas of the nursery
  • Perform additional duties as required
Required Knowledge/Skills:
Plant knowledge helpful but not required Count accurately Ability to read labels and differentiate between plants Ability to learn Latin plant names Ability to learn to operate trimming machine, forklift, electric golf cart
Expectations:

  • Is reliable and consistent in attendance and punctuality, report to work on time; follow the timekeeping process
  • Follow and sustain LEAN practices in day-to-day tasks
  • Maintain a clean working area ("start clean, work clean, finish clean")

  • Be a team player
  • Follow directions; carry out and perform assigned tasks
  • Invest the time and effort to do a good job; take pride in accomplishments
  • Work in a safe manner, immediately reporting any unsafe conditions, acts or safety incidents
  • Follow Systems Approach to Nursery Certification (SANC) practices in day-to-day tasks and strive for continual improvement of our facility practices and internal procedures Goals /
Objectives:
Assist the entire team in making it the most reliable producer of high-quality perennial liner material in North America Strive to improve the quality of plants produced, grown and shipped Strive to decrease the level of shrinkage in crops Improve overall crop quality and assist in achieving 100% fulfillment by finishing crops on time and maintaining quality until shipping date
Physical Demands/Requirements:
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
