THE POSITION
The Roadway Programs Technician 1 role with the Department of Transportation offers a chance to build strong skills in supporting safe and efficient roadway operations. You will support important work that keeps materials organized and ready for field teams. This position gives you an opportunity to grow your understanding of maintenance and inventory systems. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports essential maintenance and inventory functions that help keep Erie County operations running smoothly. It combines technical work, data review, and hands-on inventory tasks that ensure materials are available and accurately tracked. As a Roadway Programs Technician 1, you will perform the following duties:
Inventory Reporting:
Review inventory data and analyze monthly usage reports to support planning and accuracy
Material Control:
Manage receipt, storage, and distribution of repair parts, supplies, and consumable items
System Management:
Update inventory records and ensure items are issued and tracked correctly
Purchasing Support:
Prepare purchase requests, code purchasing card transactions, and resolve issues with orders
Stock Oversight:
Check stock levels, conduct physical inventories, and coordinate with district staff to reconcile discrepancies
Shipment Processing:
Log shipments, inspect received goods, and prepare outgoing materials for transport Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Winter shifts will have overtime.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience as a Technical Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or One year of experience in analysis of data utilized in planning and scheduling of work, materials and equipment and graduation from high school or GED equivalent; or An Associate's Degree in a field of Business Administration, Computer Science, Highway Engineering Technology or other closely related program.; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
