Incoming Quality Inspector Job Description The Quality Inspector ensures that all purchased components and materials meet defined quality standards before they enter production. This role focuses on inspecting parts against engineering drawings and specifications, documenting results, and supporting continuous improvement in supplier quality. The position requires a detail-oriented professional who can accurately interpret technical documentation, use precision measuring instruments, and maintain strict adherence to quality control procedures. Responsibilities Inspect incoming purchased products for compliance with engineering drawings, prints, and other reference documents. Perform inspections based on critical characteristics and part specifications, ensuring all quality requirements are met. Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints, identifying features and their respective tolerances. Use precision measuring tools, such as calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, and CMM equipment, to verify dimensions and tolerances. Document all product acceptance and rejection decisions in accordance with established procedures. Ensure proper use of the Material Review Board (MRB) area and follow MRB procedures for nonconforming products. Monitor supplier quality performance and escalate issues or take appropriate actions as needed. Collaborate with internal teams to resolve quality issues and support continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate and organized inspection records and reports using computer-based systems. Perform other quality-related duties as assigned by management. Essential Skills High School Diploma or GED required. 3-5 years of experience in quality inspection, quality control, or quality assurance preferred. Hands-on experience using calipers, micrometers, and pin gauges for dimensional inspection. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings. Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operation. Proficient computer skills for documentation, reporting, and use of inspection-related software. Strong attention to detail and ability to work with high precision. Ability to stand, walk, lift, and use hands throughout the shift. Ability to lift items weighing up to 30 pounds. Clear distance vision at 20/20 or better at 20 feet or more (with or without correction). Ability to identify and distinguish colors for inspection tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a manufacturing or production environment focused on quality inspection. Familiarity with quality control, quality assurance, and quality check processes. Comfort working with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, and related inspection equipment. Understanding of inspection techniques for critical characteristics and part specifications. Strong organizational skills to manage inspection workload and documentation. Effective communication skills to report findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Willingness to follow established procedures and contribute to continuous improvement. Core shift of 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM with flexibility to accommodate personal needs, such as school drop-offs.
