Job Description

Quality Technician Job Summary :
Analyzes both internal and external quality issues ranging from prototype builds to warranty analysis. Assists in the identification of root causes related to assembly methods and participates in cross-functional team efforts to solve these problems. Works under the direction from supervision and the quality engineering staff.
Essential Functions :
Prepare quality work instructions and inspection plans as required Train operators on work instruction for inspections and gages Lead analyst for all customer warranties and maintains records for the analysis performed Performs measurement functions to assist engineering in problem solving projects, prototype production, sample production and machine qualifications. Analyze quality costs and other quality data Perform machine and process capability studies. Coordinate product audits to verify specifications and tolerances. Assist with the development and maintenance of product measurement devices Assist with Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility with metrology personnel, Assist with maintaining gage software programs, gage masters and challenge parts Assist with incoming inspection of components. Maintain safety standards for all in the area. Awareness and understanding of
ISO 14001, ISO
45001, IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 standards Available to work all shifts as required, including extended shifts, weekends and overtime.
Education :
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) Technical training in automotive or related fields.
Experience:
Minimum 3-year quality assurance experience within an automotive manufacturing environment
Specific Skills:
Read and interpret drawings / component print knowledge Effective written and verbal communication skills Strong mechanical skills. Proficient with computer business applications (Microsoft Office Excel, Power Point, Outlook) Basic understanding of industrial machines and gauges used in measuring single and complete components. Familiar with lean production concepts Preferred skill/
Experience:
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Knowledge of Statistical Process Control Familiar with drive shaft manufacturing plant operations and equipment Proficient with computer inventory applications (SAP)
Physical Requirements :
Must be able to walk/move about a 500,000 sq ft manufacturing facility Must be able to stand/walk/move about specific work area Must be able to bend/reach/twist/stoop Must be able to lift up to 30lbs on a frequent basis Must be able to lift over 30lbs on an infrequent basis Must be able to sit at a work station Must be able to work and operate a computer terminal Vision is required to analyze and process work; and to work on computer terminal/machine centers, etc. Hearing is essential for safety reasons; and to communicate with employees, supervisors, managers, vendors, suppliers and customers via conversation, group meetings, and/or phone conferences Ability and willingness to travel domestically/international as required
