$50.00/hr (1.5x overtime rate) + Per Diem ($110/day lodging, $64/day meals for 10-hour days / 50-hour work week) Position Description We are seeking a highly skilled Senior
QA/QC ISP
Fiber Technician (Tier 3) to support mission-critical operations within a live data center environment in Abilene, TX. This role focuses on advanced fiber troubleshooting, break-fix remediation, testing, and quality assurance across active production infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience in inside plant (ISP) fiber systems , strong OTDR expertise, and a disciplined approach to working in high-availability environments where precision and adherence to process are essential. This is a senior-level technical role requiring the ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex fiber issues while maintaining service integrity in live networks. This position operates in a fast-paced, 24/7 mission-critical setting supporting structured cabling and fiber optic infrastructure across enterprise data center systems. Key Responsibilities Perform advanced fiber optic troubleshooting, break-fix, and maintenance in live data center environments Work safely around active production circuits following strict MOPs, SOPs, and change control procedures Execute and interpret fiber test results including: OTDR testing and trace analysis Optical power meter and light source testing Fiber inspection and connector validation Perform fiber cleaning, inspection, and re-inspection prior to mating or remediation Diagnose and resolve physical layer issues including: Signal loss and attenuation Dirty or damaged connectors Patch panel, jumper, and cross-connect issues Documentation and labeling discrepancies Perform QA/QC validation on fiber installations, routing, labeling, and test documentation Review and interpret technical documentation such as: OTDR traces and test reports As-built drawings and rack elevations Patch schedules and fiber route documentation Identify, document, and escalate complex technical issues with clear root cause analysis Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities across structured fiber infrastructure Provide guidance to junior technicians on best practices for testing, cleaning, and troubleshooting Ensure compliance with all data center safety and operational standards Required Skills & Education 6-7+ years of hands-on experience in fiber optic installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance Strong background in data centers, carrier facilities, NOCs, central offices, or mission-critical environments Proven experience performing break-fix work in live production environments Expert-level knowledge of inside plant fiber systems , including: Trunks, jumpers, patch panels, cassettes, and cross-connects Strong proficiency with fiber test equipment: OTDR Optical power meter and light source Fiber inspection scope VFL (as applicable) Strong QA/QC mindset with high attention to detail and documentation accuracy Ability to perform methodical OTDR analysis and fiber fault isolation Comfortable working full-time onsite in a high-density data center environment Preferred Qualifications
BICSI TECH
Certification or equivalent structured cabling credential
FOA CFOT
(Certified Fiber Optic Technician) OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification Manufacturer-specific fiber certification (CommScope, Corning, etc.) First Aid / CPR certification or site-specific safety training Experience supporting hyperscale or enterprise data center environments Technical Competencies Advanced fiber optic troubleshooting and diagnostics OTDR analysis and interpretation Optical loss budgeting and power testing Fiber inspection, cleaning, and remediation Root cause analysis in live network environments Structured cabling QA/QC auditing Documentation validation and correction Outage prevention in high-availability systems Preventive and corrective maintenance execution Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to work full-time onsite in an active data center environment Comfortable working around energized equipment, dense cabling systems, and elevated rack structures Ability to stand for extended periods and handle fiber testing tools and cabling materials Must follow strict safety, security, and operational protocols at all times Schedule 10-hour shifts, 5 days per week (50 hours/week) Day shift primarily, with occasional night or schedule adjustments as needed Interview Process 45-60 minute technical interview via Microsoft Teams (recorded) Potential second-round virtual interview if required About Seneca Resources At Seneca Resources, we are more than just a staffing and consulting firm, we are a trusted career partner.
