Job Description

Valex is seeking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Round Rock, TX location. The Quality Assurance Engineer's authority is delegated by the Quality Manager and allows for the full execution of his/her responsibilities and duties. The duties of the Quality Assurance Engineer include, but are not limited to, the following: Inspection planning duties include: Reviewing and signing new and modified (DCN) drawings, Inspection Plans (QCIPs) and other documents. Using a computer, generating inspection planning for three areas; receiving inspection, in-process inspection and final inspection. Statistical Process Control (SPC) duties include: formalizing a training program, training appropriate personnel, implementing SPC where directed, and monitoring SPC data. Generating appropriate graphs, charts, and tables as needed. Analysis and findings/trends report creation. Facilitate and manage the 8D (Corrective Action process) Process within the company. 8D's include0
  • internal and external Corrective Action Requests including performing the investigation and report write up as appropriate.
Help to maintain the current
ISO 9001
2008 Quality Management System through internal audits, maintaining the current system Function as a reference and trainer for mechanical part inspection methodology. Help manage the Quality department's equipment with regards to: Service / Repair and Replacement. Recommend the acquisition of needed test or quality-related equipment and coordinate the procurement, installation and training of appropriate personnel in their use. As needed, design the additional fixtures, accessories and equipment if unavailable for purchase. Assist in the Continuous Improvement Opportunity Program and the Lean Six Sigma initiatives such as Kaizens and Value Stream Mapping Work to continuously improve QC efficiency (training, workflow, equipment, etc) Perform all other such duties as assigned by the Quality Manager. Assist all other departments in meeting Company goals and objectives, as appropriate. Maintain performance measures in area of responsibility. Keep areas of responsibility neat, clean, and safe. Assist the Quality Coordinator to maintain the calibration system when needed. This includes identifying, calibrating and certifying inspection and test equipment in accordance with
ANSI 1456.
Participate in the review and disposition of nonconforming material (NMR). Perform failure analysis and report on customer returns. Investigate customer concerns and provide appropriate feedback. Shadowing Engineering Department Weld Test Process and performing weld tests as needed from production. Lab Material Analysis duties include performing Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) surface analysis as well as sample prep for other material testing such as AES and ESCA and coordinate with the third-party labs to send out samples, analyze reports and create Valex reports from the third-party reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
B.A. or B.S. degree in applicable field (i.e. Engineering, Quality, etc.), 6 years of related experience as a Quality Engineer in any combination of the following area:
  • Two or more years of related experience as a Quality, Process, Manufacturing Technician,
  • Two or more years in a Quality or R&D Lab,
  • Two or more years in with direct experience of metrology, GD&T, and print reading, Direct knowledge and experience with
ISO 9001
System and Internal Audit, Strong knowledge, discipline, and experience in problem solving using the following methods: 8D, Corrective Action Reports, A3, Fishbone Diagram, 5-Why, Fault Tree Diagram.
