Ingredients Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance Lead Technician is responsible for and provides support to the Quality Manager in facilitating and maintaining the development, implementation and maintenance of food safety, quality systems and activities at Bowman Andros Products, LLC. The incumbent must understand the flow of goods throughout the production process and warehouses and is responsible for supporting the documentation and execution of multiple Quality programs and special projects in a manner that meets or exceeds customer and Company expectations. The incumbent will report to the Quality Manager.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Retrieve, audit, and ensure our Food Safety Management System remain in compliance Build, maintain, and analyze complex datasets in Excel Perform internal/external audits (physical and record-based and drive corrective/preventive actions Support root cause analysis, non-conformance investigations, from raw material to finish goods Conduct traceability exercises and risk assessments Maintain and update specifications, SOPs, COAs, customer technical sheets, and documentation systems Ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., FSMA, FDA, food labeling, food defense) across products, packaging, and labels Approve any new equipment / raw materials and review vendor/service provider programs for compliance Prepare and submit Food Safety Plan documentation and shelf-life extension requests Oversee the key quality meetings such as MCAR - master corrective action register / hold meeting / sanitation meeting etc Conduct onboarding and continuous quality/food safety training Act as a departmental representative in meetings and functions as needed Maintain records and books for all Quality personnel Partner with Production, Sales, Purchasing, and external suppliers on projects and compliance efforts Lead or assist with implementation of 5S, 5M, rework projects, and team initiatives Act as back-up for Quality Manager Coordinate with Quality and Production teams on quality holds, rework, and documentation flow Capture, track, and report key quality and productivity metrics Assist with Redzone and others platforms such Blue for food safety, training, quality initiatives and labeling reviews Uphold and promote food safety and quality standards by adhering to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, and actively supporting a culture of continual improvement and accountability Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's degree or higher preferred, but not required. 2 - 3 years of relevant experience in lieu of educational qualifications.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook skills Strong organization (both digital and physical) skills Meticulous record keeping skills Knowledge of production SOPs Strong analytical and reasoning skills (For example, must have ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.) Strong customer service skills (i.e. views other Departments/Employees as customers and strives to provide results in a timely fashion that meets expectations at all times.) Ability to work both collaboratively and independently Ability to work a flexible work schedule
Working Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a teammate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The QA Lead Tech will require you to spend long periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, as well as on the production floor. The incumbent will be exposed to loud noises from production equipment and thus will be required to wear PPE. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be high at times due to production and mechanical equipment noise.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be performed by a teammate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Teammates must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push and/or pull, up to 50lb boxes of paperwork.
