Job Description

  • Sample Management Technician
  • Location:
  • Richmond, VA
  • Pay:
  • Up to $20/hour (depending on experience)
  • Duration:
  • 1-year contract with potential for extension based on performance and business needs
  • Position Summary
  • The Sample Management Technician supports laboratory operations by performing sample and standard handling activities in accordance with established procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. This role is responsible for accurate sample receipt, tracking, storage, documentation, and coordination with laboratory teams to ensure efficient workflow and compliance.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • + Perform sample and standard management activities including receipt, check-in, labeling, logging, inventory tracking, transportation, check-out, and disposal processes.
+ Maintain accurate sample documentation and ensure materials are handled according to established procedures. + Communicate sample and standard status updates to laboratory staff and support teams. + Assist laboratory personnel with sample handling procedures and provide guidance on proper workflows. + Review laboratory requests to ensure alignment with applicable SOPs, quality requirements, and storage guidelines. + Complete investigation and deviation documentation as needed and support corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities. + Maintain sample storage areas and ensure proper organization, labeling, and inventory control. + Monitor environmental conditions and respond to storage unit alarms as required. + Support continuous improvement initiatives and process documentation updates. + Complete assigned tasks accurately, safely, and within established timelines.
  • Required Qualifications
  • + High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or additional scientific training preferred.
+ Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in laboratory operations, sample management, inventory control, manufacturing, or a regulated environment preferred. + Experience following SOPs and working within quality-driven environments. + Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Required Skills & Abilities
  • + Basic understanding of laboratory workflows, sample handling, storage requirements, and documentation practices.
+ Knowledge of inventory management and material tracking processes. + Ability to review procedures and identify process improvement opportunities. + Strong written and verbal communication skills. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel. + Strong organizational and time-management skills. + Ability to troubleshoot issues and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

  • Pay Details:
  • $18.
