Do you like manufacturing and would like opportunities to gain some skills in our Production Department? Shields , a division within the Novolex Family, has various positions available with their manufacturing departments. They are looking for solid folks who want to make a difference and join their team! We currently have openings for a QA on our 12 hour day shift. Schedule is a 2-2-3 rotation (not a swing shift) with hours of: Day Shift 4:30a-5p, Night Shift 4:30p-5a. The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring the quality of the finished product meets all customer requirements. The Quality Technician will partner with an assigned Production shift to identify and dispose of non-conforming products before shipment to our customers. Primary Responsibilities Provide a safe work environment for all employees by: Adhering to all safety rules and being an example to others Communicating to another employee if you see them working in a potentially unsafe manner Reporting any safety hazards and/or safety violations to the appropriate WFB Manager Maintaining a clean and organized workspace by completing housekeeping tasks Ensure all non-conforming product is caught and disposed of before shipments to our customer by Verification of the physical characteristics and quality of all orders manufactured on all lines throughout the shift Verification that all quality testing (i.e., shrink, COFs, opacity) for all orders on all lines throughout the shift has been completed and results are within tolerance Conduct internal line audits throughout the shift Communicating any deviations from specifications to the Machine Operator, Shift Process Leader, and Process Manager Assist in the sorting of questionable product and determining acceptable and unacceptable product Addressing all quality issues/problems with Production employees and ensuring corrections are made for non-conforming products Assist in the training and coaching of Production employees regarding quality Completion of all Certificate of Analysis/Conformance requests from customers after verification of conformance. Lead Process Improvement Efforts by focusing on issues identified during internal audits regarding: Safety practices Process improvements Quality improvements Cost control
  • Adhere to all plants Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Follows all Food Contact Packaging Safety requirements as outline in the SQF Quality Manual. Work overtime as required Any additional responsibilities as assigned by the Quality Manager 4.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent work experience
Experience:
Experience working in a manufacturing environment and/or working a 12-hour shift is preferred, basic computer skills a plus
Specialized Knowledge:
Blown Film Extrusion and/or Polyethylene Materials a plus 8.
