REPORTS TO

Sewing Department Manager SUMMARY :

Sewing machine operator is responsible for operating single-head sewing machines to sew various items as part of production process.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ability to draw thread through guides, tensions, and needles and adjust tensions, threads, and bobbins according to fabric type. Ability to center material to prepare for processing on sewing machine. Ability to observe sewing operations to detect defects in stitching that indicate machine malfunction and notify supervisor of malfunction. Must be dependable and self-motivated with a positive attitude. Ability to work independently with little supervision and communicate well with supervisor and team leaders. Ability to maintain speed and efficiency and be fully committed to excellent customer service. Ability to maintain department production demand numbers. Ability to accurately count and follow written or verbal directions. Pay attention to the quality of both the starting product and the finished product. Continually utilize visual awareness to operate equipment, read information, and have discernment for colors and detail. Perform other duties as assigned by management. QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred but not required. Manufacturing experience preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Continually required to sit (8-10 hours per day and up to 4 hours overtime as needed) Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity. Continually required to talk, hear and visually see and focus on items during production process, including but not limited to color, peripheral and depth perception and adjust focus. Must be able to lift, move or push up to 30lbs.
