GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED
The Hard Goods Associate is responsible for producing high quality work-in-progress and finished products to satisfy the needs and expectations of customers. The position requires focus on keeping the work area organized, correctly setting up and preparing each mold for thermoforming or foam pouring, competently operating the foaming machines and thermoforming ovens, trimming excess foam or plastic from each product to ensure the customer views the foam as appealing, and shutting down the department each evening ensuring proper cleaning and maintenance of the foaming machine
General:
Properly set up and prepare the work area each morning for the day's production, including the retrieval of all needed raw materials, placing floor matting in the desired locations, and preparing the correct molds for the day's operations. . Safely operate thermoforming ovens to mold plastics to create sub-assembly and finished components in accordance with written and verbal work instructions. Operate hand and pneumatic tools to trim, sand, and rework subassemblies and WIP materials in preparation for foaming and finishing operations. Ensure the work area remains organized and free of debris or other waste that may hinder the efficient and safe operation of the department. Communicate clearly with the Department Team Lead regarding tooling performance and any problems or inefficiencies any individual mold may be creating. Communicate clearly with other departments regarding Material quality and other issues. Listen to and implement any feasible feedback internal customers may provide to ensure their expectations are being met. Maintain and continually update data for Continuous Improvement efforts, and individual performance measures. Properly shut down and organize the Panel Foaming area at the end of each day by competently following foaming machine shut down procedures, placing all raw materials in their appropriate storage containers, placing all molds in their appropriate location, unplugging all tools, sweeping the floor and taking trash to the outside receptacles Maintain and keep needed supplies and tools stocked. Communicate with appropriate individuals when tools and supplies need to be ordered. Other Duties as assigned
SKILLS & EDUCATION
High School Diploma or Equivalent and level of experience which provides the incumbent with the appropriate level of knowledge needed to excel in position. Good communication skills (written, verbal and listening). Attention to detail. Good manual dexterity. Good hand/eye coordination.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The Panel Foaming Associate must be able to stand 90% of each workday, and is subject to bending, squatting, pushing, lifting heavy objects, crawling and working in otherwise awkward positions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS
Works in a well-lit environment but is subject to occasional high decibel sounds and/or non-toxic fumes also associated with production. This position's duties also require working with tools, machinery, and other production items that have sharp edges, are under high pressure, or are extremely hot.
