Costumer

This position provides direct technical support for costume shop operations. This position is defined as a non-exempt position under FLSA regulations. Hands-on execution of costume and stage makeup designs including fabrication, materials handling, sewing machine and serger operations, hand sewing, pattern making and cutting fabric and supplies handling, storage custodial operations, and other duties as assigned. Education First-Year, Sophomore, Junior or Senior. Theatre major or minor status is preferred. Experience Basic sewing experience is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Basic to moderate skill with sewing equipment and techniques. Applicants must have team leadership skills and situational safety awareness. Location On SU Campus Learning Objectives Gain hands on experience in sewing, draping, tailoring, cutting, patternmaking, crafts, and millinery. Additional Requirements This position is paid $7.25 per hour, with an estimate of 10 hours weekly. Specific times may vary depending on assignment. Physical Demand Position requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time. Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction. Position requires occasional manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach. Position requires occasional stooping, crouching, ladder use, and bending. Position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds. Working conditions are indoors.
