Job Description

Under the general direction of the Chief Engineer II, the Stationary Engineer in the Facilities Management Division (FMD), San Diego Mission Valley, performs a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance and repair of heating, air conditioning, ventilating, lighting, power, water, water treatment, and other mechanical systems in State-owned and occupied buildings in accordance with FMD guidelines and manuals. Responsibilities Operate and monitor HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration) systems, boilers, hydraulics, and other mechanical equipment to ensure optimal performance. Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems using schematics and technical manuals. Troubleshoot complex issues related to HVAC, hydraulics, boiler operations, and industrial mechanics with precision and efficiency. Interpret schematics and technical diagrams to diagnose problems accurately and implement effective repairs. Perform field service tasks including system repairs, component replacements, and system upgrades in accordance with safety standards. Experience Four years of experience performing duties which included the operation, maintenance and repair of boiler, heating, refrigeration, ventilation and power equipment of large commercial, industrial or institutional buildings including the operation and maintenance of air conditioning systems involving the use of automatic controls. and
Education:
Completion of 700 hours of formalized technical instruction relating to Stationary Engineering in training offered by such established programs as: Job Corps; Skill Centers; ROP; Trades Schools; Military; and JTPA (Joint Training Partnership Act). (An Associate of Arts or Certificate in Mechanical Electrical Technology, which must have included at least 12 semester units of instruction in heating, ventilation, and refrigeration systems involving the use of automatic controls may be substituted for the 700 hours of technical instruction). Students who are within six months of completing their degree will be admitted to the months of completing their degree will be admitted to the examination but they must present evidence of completion prior to appointment.
Pay:
$6,088.00 - $7,707.00 per month
