SUMMARY:
Tends furnace that re-melts nonferrous alloyed metals used in die casting process. Loads, unloads and moves materials, as required, within or near working site.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Clean furnace and equipment
  • Convey material from storage or work sites to designated area
  • Count, weigh and record number of units of materials moved on daily production sheet
  • Remove samples of materials, label them with identifying information and take samples for laboratory analysis
  • Lift heavy objects by hand or with power hoist
  • Clean work area
  • Charge material in furnace
  • Operate industrial truck or electrical hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and product
  • Sprinkle fluxing compound on molten metal to bring impurities to surface. Skims slage from surface of moten metal
  • Transfer moten metal from furnace to bull ladle and convey moten metal to holding furnaces at die casting machines
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma and/or two years related experience
  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language in both written and verbal forms
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
