Basic Function:
The stationary engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance and preventive maintenance of boilers, chillers, chilled and hot water systems and all associated equipment. GSH has availability for both part-time and full-time, weekend availabilty is required for either. Major Duties and Responsibilities Operate High Temp•Hot Water generators that run on gas or fuel-oil by hand or electronic systems. Adjust burner airflow for proper combustion. Operate and maintain HTHW pumps and piping systems. Operate chillers and cooling towers. Maintain chilled and condenser water system pumps and piping systems. Operate and maintain other electrical, mechanical, and ventilation systems, vacuum and circulating pumps, and water softeners. Make adjustments as required and perform preventive maintenance in accordance with prescribed schedules. Make daily visual safety inspections of the boilers, high-pressure vessels, chillers, cooling towers, piping, controls and all related equipment. Shall have the ability to make minor repairs of a mechanical nature. Must be able to distinguish problems and anomalies from normal operating parameters and record and report all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences to shift supervisor. Maintain records of fuel consumption, maintenance services, repairs, and supplies. Log pertinent data, including discrepancies, report deficiencies to a supervisor immediately for follow-up. Observe water level, pressures and temperatures and adjust equipment to ensure safe and constant operation of equipment. Perform water quality checks for the HTHW, chilled water, and condenser water systems; and update appropriate equipment and system logs. Possess adequate sight, hearing and speaking capabilities to maintain a safe working condition and be able to distinguish wire colors and component color codes. Complete daily engineers log of all relevant equipment incidents and status changes.
Basic Qualifications:
Must possess a current State of Maryland Board of Licensing and Regulations license as a Stationary Engineer, First Grade. Must be available to work weekends

Must have a High School diploma or equivalent and have three (3) years of practical HVAC maintenance experience and an additional two (2) years practical experience in boiler room facility tending boilers and chillers rated in excess of 500 HP and 1,000 Ton respectively. Must have the ability to write, comprehend, and execute written and oral instructions, in English, and perform basic arithmetic calculations. Must have the ability to operate building automation systems software, METASYS experience preferred. Must be able to lift 50lbs and be in good physical health and physically able to climb ladders.
