Stationary Engineer (Union)Job SummaryOperate and maintain powerhouse systems including boilers, chillers, and building utilities for manufacturing facility. Monitor equipment operations, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure zero downtime through comprehensive system management and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities Equipment Operations & MaintenanceOperate water tube and fire tube boilers, chilled water systems, sub-freezing chillers, cooling towers, and air compressorsManage cooling tower and boiler water chemical treatment programsDiagnose and repair mechanical systems including steam traps, DDC control valves, air actuators, and piping systemsTroubleshoot PLC panels and perform vibration analysis System Monitoring & DocumentationConduct digital equipment rounds, plant meter readings, and logbook data entriesCreate and complete Maximo work orders for PM, CM, and EM tasks with spare parts inventory trackingGenerate compressed air leak reports and equipment trending analysisMaintain environmental PM completion and reporting Safety & ComplianceMaintain safety training compliance and complete safety PM/repair tasksParticipate in employee safety concern process and utilize pre-task planning methodsCreate and audit task instruction sheets and ensure collective bargaining agreement compliancePerform general housekeeping and maintain forklift/aerial lift operators' licenses Administrative DutiesManage Workday check-in/check-out and PTO/vacation requestsEngage in daily email communication and GM Slack app correspondenceParticipate in GMS BPD board activities and complete scheduled trainingRequired Qualifications Education & CertificationHigh school diploma or GED1st Class Refrigeration Operators License requiredHigh-Pressure Boiler Operators or Stationary Engineers License requiredCFC Universal certification required Experience & Skills8+ years facility maintenance experience including boiler and chiller maintenance (verifiable experience required)Proficient in Microsoft Office and CMMS systems (Maximo)Ability to safely operate portable hand and power toolsExperience with water tube/fire tube boilers, chilled water systems, and building automation systems Technical CompetenciesKnowledge of mechanical systems, steam traps, control valves, piping systems, and PLC troubleshootingUnderstanding of cooling tower chemistry, water treatment, and compressed air systemsExperience with vibration analysis and predictive/preventative maintenance techniquesAbility to monitor building automation systems and utility/piping systems Core CompetenciesStrong attention to detail for data logging and equipment monitoringProblem-solving capabilities for equipment diagnosis and repairAbility to work independently and respond to equipment emergenciesPreferred Qualifications Advanced Certifications & ExperienceMaster level boiler or refrigeration licenses and advanced building automation certificationsExperience with manufacturing process equipment and predictive maintenance technologiesKnowledge of energy management, optimization programs, and specialized refrigeration systemsAdditional trade certifications (welding, pipefitting, electrical)Working ConditionsManufacturing powerhouse environment with exposure to high-temperature boilers, refrigeration systems, and mechanical equipment. Requires flexibility for equipment emergencies and rotating shifts per collective bargaining agreement. This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
