Hickman Lumber has been fortunate to have a strong team with many employees working 20-30 years. As we are continuing to grow, we are actively looking for motivated and dedicated new team members. We are currently searching for a dry kiln operator. Experience is a plus but not necessary. You will work alongside our current kiln operator, with years of experience, where you will learn the day-to-day duties required in our operation. A Dry Kiln Operator manages industrial drying kilns, primarily for lumber or wood products. Their main responsibilities include setting temperatures, monitoring moisture levels, loading and unloading materials, and recording data to ensure wood dries evenly and without defects.
Core Responsibilities Process Control:
Monitor kiln computer software, gauges, and moisture meter readings. Adjust temperature, humidity, and airflow to optimize drying schedules.
Loading & Unloading:
Oversee or physically operate forklifts to safely load and unload timber without damaging the product.
Quality Assurance:
Weigh sample boards daily to determine Moisture Content of the lumber in each dry kilns. Inspect the wood to ensure it meets strict moisture and quality standards.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
Assist maintenance teams by inspecting kiln parts (fans, vents, doors) and identifying or resolving equipment malfunctions.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate logs of operational data, drying times, and processing batches. There are many opportunities for growth within the company which means higher wages and more responsibilities for you. When Hickman Lumber succeeds, our whole team succeeds.

- Thursday 6:00am
- 4:30pm Friday 6:00
- 11:00am Possible weekend hours available too.
15 min break at 9:00 30 min break at 12:00 At 3 months anniversary: We pay 100% of health insurance for you and your family.
