GENERAL OVERVIEW
Operates and maintains boilers and related equipment in such a manner so as to provide a safe, efficient and continuous supply of utilities to the hospital and adjoining buildings.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Starts, stops, adjusts, regulates and repairs mechanical equipment such as boilers, compressors, and pumps as needed to maintain constant supply of utilities. Performs daily water analysis testing of various systems waters and adds chemical treatment to maintain proper limits and prevent scaling or corrosion of heating or cooling surfaces. Performs routine preventative maintenance disassembly and cleaning of boilers, boiler room equipment and work area on an as prescribed basis. Observes and records various gauge, meter or recorder readings to verify that all operational parameters are within specified requirements. Maintains daily log of work performed including PM and water analysis logs. Provides repair services to other departments as needed. Assists in training of new boiler plant personnel. Integrates performance improvement principles into all aspects of job responsibilities. Integrates customer service excellence principles into all aspects of job responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum High school diploma/GED Prior job-related work experience of at least 1 to 2 years is required. City of Pittsburgh Class A Stationary Engineers license and/or NIULPE Power Engineer certification of second class or higher.
